Arnold Manor
Ramco spearheaded the renovation of the Arnold Manor after it began to fall into disrepair in the late 1990s, having garnered the support of the local community to maintain the estate’s historical beauty and elegance. The stately home, built in 1906, is one of the few turn of the century buildings still in existence along Long Island’s picturesque South Shore.
The house was owned by William Arnold, whose family gained fame in connection with operating Fifth Avenue’s renowned specialty store, Arnold Constable & Company, which served elite consumers including Thomas Jefferson, John D. Rockefeller, and Andrew Carnegie.
The Arnold estate was built at the beginning of the 20th century in West Islip, an area that was predominantly rural at that time. It was built with graceful, timeless features such as traditional Greek Doric columns and beautiful crown moldings.
The original architectural style of the building was retained, which honors the historical significance of buildings and grounds. Ramco worked closely with the Town of Islip to develop construction plans which would benefit the community while preserving the manor, which is now, thanks in part to Ramco’s redevelopment, a historic part of the West Islip community.
